The Cliff Wampa is as simple as a Wampa who lives on the cliffs... cause that exactly what it is. Though Wampas were and are only from Hoth, the Empire recognized the destruction and chaos the Wampas were able to create, the Empire took a couple of Wampas from Hoth and after seeing the damage they had caused to the Rebel Base... the Empire took a few and bio-engineered them to adapt to cliff-climate. They were intended to make as guard dogs as such for protecting the Imperial bases... but it went wrong when the Wampas started to turn on the Imperials, due to their constant need for hunting and killing.
